2017 Ford Super Duty

When it comes to pure brute strength and power, nothing beats Ford’s Super Duty line of trucks. But the all-new 2017 family of F-Series Super Duty trucks is so much more than just the most powerful lineup of full-size trucks. The completely redesigned Ford Super Duty for 2017 is stronger, lighter, more powerful, and with more luxury features than any previous F-Series ever made. This is undoubtedly the most advanced heavy duty pickup line ever created, leaving the competition simply staring in disbelief.

With best-in-class towing, best-in-class payload, not to mention best-in-class horsepower and torque ratings, the all-new Ford Super Duty is the standard by which all full-size trucks will be measured. They also have more cab, body style, box and trim level choices than any other lineup of trucks. All of this makes us wonder, why would anyone choose a heavy duty truck other than the Ford Super Duty?

New Ford Super Duty Design Features

Super Duty Side

Following the tremendous success and acclaim of the redesigned aluminum-body F-150 in 2015, Ford decided the entire F-Series line of trucks would be made with this same military-grade high-strength aluminum alloy. The weight that is saved by using a lighter and stronger body material then allowed the designers at Ford to add some weight where it makes a big difference—in stronger axles, and beefier chassis and steering components. This means the new Super Duty trucks are both lighter and stronger than ever before. In addition, the new fully-boxed frame is made almost completely from high-strength steel, and is more than 20 times stiffer than the previous frame.

Ford Super Duty Engine Choices and Capacities

There are two engine choices available in the 2017 Super Duty line of pickups. The 6.2-liter flex-fuel V8 delivers a class-leading 430 lb-ft. of torque to go along with its 385-horsepower. This is the most torque in a gas-powered V8 of any full-size pickup anywhere. Now, for real pulling power, the available 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel simply can’t be touched. Its 440-horsepower is backed up by an astonishing 925 lb-ft. of torque—capable of out-pulling any truck in its category. In fact, the Power Stroke Diesel has a maximum GCWR towing capacity of 41,800 lbs. Who needs a big rig?

The gasoline engine is similarly impressive, with a maximum GCWR rating of 23,500 lbs. in some configurations. An all-new Ford TorqShift® SelectShift® 6-speed automatic transmission is the delivery system for all of the Super Duty’s massive power. Most models are available in either 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive configuration.

Ford Super Duty Models and Styles

Super Duty Interior

The Super Duty F-250 and F-350 are available in regular cab, Crew Cab and Super Cab styles in XL and XLT trim. Lariat trims come with a choice of Crew or Super Cab styles, while the King Ranch, Platinum and all F-450 models come in Crew Cab style only. The F-250 and F-350 come with either a 6 ¾’ or an 8’ bed, while the F-450 will only see the 8’ bed.

As for interior styling and amenities, let’s just say that certain trim levels would give a luxury car its money’s worth. No Super Duty truck to date has come so well-equipped and fully featured. There has been no detail overlooked in designing the new Super Duty trucks to look as good as they perform.
