Levine Museum of the New South
This museum houses the most comprehensive interpretation in the nation of Southern history after the Civil war and is a must see. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the recently expanded, award-winning exhibit, Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers. This exhibit features interactive environments and over twelve hundred images, artifacts, music, video, oral histories and more. Changing programs, exhibits, and tours illuminate the Southern history and culture from 1865 to present day.
Billy Graham Library
You can experience the dynamic journey of Billy Graham from his humble start as a farm boy to an international ambassador of the love of God through state-of-the art exhibits. Things to see include memorabilia, multimedia presentations, and photographs. The building, which is shaped like a barn, sits on twenty manicured acres only miles away from where Graham grew up.
Historic Latta Plantation
A living history house and farm museum, Latta Plantation is open to the public all year. Besides the guided tour of the circa 1800 Latta house, you can also take a self-guided tour of the 13 outbuildings and property grounds. Latta is home to endangered and rare breeds of historic livestock. The Jean Boggs Heritage Center here has a fifteen minute introductory site video, an exhibit room, restrooms, and a gift shop. Latta has daily tours, birthday parties, educational programs, children’s camps, workshops and more than thirty special events held each year.
Wells Fargo History Museum
This is a new museum in Center City. The Wells Fargo History Museum offers the opportunity to discover many artifacts throughout history. A real stagecoach is featured at the museum and you can even climb aboard for photo opportunities. There are exhibits on the gold-mining heritage of North Carolina, plus the beginnings of Wells Fargo and Wachovia’s history in banking.
