Focus RS

Ford has made a lot of strides in the last few years, and many of their successes are due to simply listening to their fans. Those who love the RS have their own groups across the internet, and fans have been chatting across different mediums from blogs to social media about what they wish Ford would have done. The Ford Focus RS is a performance car that is an answer to their comments, questions, and concerns.

Limited Edition

The 2018 RS Performance car will be limited-edition with just 1,500 vehicles available in the US and Canada. It’s Ford’s way of celebrating the hard work and success they’ve seen with the famous model. According to fans around North America, they were looking for something a little flashier and a tad better on the driving course. The hatchback was designed with a mechanical limited-slip differential to make acceleration easier on tight corners. This special RS will be easy to distinguish both on the inside and out from its counterparts on the road. One thing Ford fans didn’t want was a car that looked exactly like the previous generations.

The Details

You can choose the Performance version in Race Red or Nitrous Blue as the body color. Each choice has a black roof, black spoiler, and black mirror caps. The standard 19″ forged alloy wheels are eye-catching, and you’ll find the blue RS logo on both the center caps of the wheels and the side wings of the spoiler. Drivers will handle carbon-fiber skin when they use the touchpoints of the car, including the door handles and handbrake. Heated front seats plus an 8-way power driver’s seat will make it easy to be comfortable on long drives.

Performance

Ford added the limited-slip differential so drivers could use every ounce from the 350 horsepower. The engine is 2.3L EcoBoost®, with the torque distributed based on the traction of the road surface. It’s designed to limit the amount of spin difference in a car — differences that ultimately slow drivers down and decrease stability on the road. Ford’s marketing executives have been adamant that this car will give their drivers even more thrill when they take it for a spin.

The Best of Both Worlds

Ford Focus RS

The Focus RS already came with a host of performance features, but the new system on the Performance car integrates perfectly into the existing technology. The AWD, Dynamic Torque Vectoring and Torque Vectoring Control all aid in ensuring the vehicle gets the power were it needs it, and doesn’t leave the driver stuck in a jam. Owners of this car can still enjoy the many Driver Modes that come standard on the Focus, such as launch control for a faster starting speed.

Whether you’ve been following all of the coverage or you just have a passing interest in the Performance model, you may want to take this car for a spin. Just be quick about it because there are only 1,000 models available in the US.
