Are you ready for spring break? It may be hard to believe that winter is almost over, but spring break is just around the corner.

Named one of the top ten spring break destinations in the United States by Livability.com, Charlotte has tons to offer. If you’re looking to have a blast this spring break, you’ll love these four great activities to enjoy near Charlotte.carowinds_amusement_park

Carowinds Amusement Park

Whether you’re a fun-loving parent or a thrill-seeking college student, you’ll love everything Carowinds has to offer. Whether you want to enjoy the roller coasters or the Carowinds Carolina Harbor Waterpark – or both! – you’ll have no shortage of fun this spring break. Check out the newly renovated water park with new rides, such as a six-story water slide and a wave pool with up to 6-foot waves.

Or hop aboard the Fury 325 roller coaster, named “Best New Ride in the World” in 2015. And if you love the circus and acrobatics, you’ll have to see Cirque Imagine, a new live show that will wow and amaze you as gymnasts dance, balance, and fly through the air in Carowinds’ very own performing arts show.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

Charlotte is known for its adoration of NASCAR. As the home to the one and only NASCAR Hall of Fame, Charlotte aptly honors this truly American sport. This spring break, check out events like the Racing Insiders Tour, Race Viewing Party for the Toyota Owners 400, and the Champions Exhibit. The NASCAR Hall of Fame features a Meet the Inductees exhibit, the High Octane Theater, Glory Road, the Hall of Honor, and of course the Great Hall, which houses rotating displays of NASCAR’s greatest stars.

McDowell Nature Center and Preserve

If spring break is your time to unwind from the hectic schedules of work, school, and daily responsibilities, then unwind at the serene McDowell Nature Center and Preserve. Covering a total of 1,108 acres, the McDowell Nature Preserve is home to thousands of species of birds, plants, and other animals. At the McDowell Nature Center, you’ll learn about all the creatures that call McDowell “home” when you view the live, native animal exhibit, the outdoor amphitheater and shows, and the Backyard Habitat Garden.

In the Backyard Habitat Garden, you can get up close and truly appreciate the beauty and delicate nature of a variety of birds at their feeding stations, as well as the butterflies at the butterfly garden. Wander around the preserve grounds and enjoy hiking, canoeing, fishing, and camping in pure serenity.

Charlotte Helicopter Tours

If you want to cross “ride in a helicopter” off your bucket list, you’ll enjoy Charlotte Helicopter Tours. With a variety of tour durations and flight plans to choose from, Charlotte Helicopter Tours gives you a view of the Queen City like never before. On the Queen City Helicopter Tour, you’ll take off from the roof of the Charlotte Plaza Uptown Hotel parking structure and fly above some of the city’s greatest landmarks.

If you prefer a more nature-focused view, opt for either the Queen City Helicopter Lake Norman Tour – which departs from Lake Norman Airpark – or the Queen City Crowder’s Mountain – which gives you the experience of flying with the birds above the lovely mountain peaks surrounding Charlotte.

So, what will your adventure be this spring break?
